Share Your World – 2016 Week 35

 

With writing being such a solitary vocation, I try to find ways to participate in community events as often as possible. It’s a great way to connect with other writers, explore different styles and points of view, and invite new readers to my blog.


I first discovered this challenge through  Sandra at The Happy Wordcrafter. After reading her response, I headed to the host of this event, Cee’s Photography. I’ve long since admired her stunning photographs Here are the questions and my responses to this event.


List 2 things you have to be happy about?

    I am happy about the possibilities the future now holds. My children are finding their way in this world, with minimal bumps and bruises, and are setting solid foundations for the dreams they hold dear. My husband has a promising new job where he has room to use his talents in a supportive atmosphere. My career goals are ever-expanding, and I am pleased with the strides I am making.


Being “Grandma” also makes me happy. My husband’s children have bestowed me with this gift, and I have four grandchildren that bring me joy. My hope is to build as special a relationship with them as my parents have with my children.


 

If you could take a photograph, paint a picture or write a story of any place in the world, what and where would it be?

    One of my favorite places is Key West. I would love to spend a summer there, collecting photographs and working on a novel based on the special atmosphere found along Duval Street.

Should children be seen and not heard?

    As a teacher, I believe children should be heard. Their voices need to be nurtured to allow them to be the best they can be. There’s nothing like seeing the world through a child’s eyes.


List at least five of your favorite first names.

    I’m not sure I have favorite first names. I do love unique names but I find that as you get to know people, their names somehow fit them. I am partial to Rosie, Rocco, Oscar, Charlie, Emily, and Ollie.


Bonus question:  What are you grateful for from last week, and what are you looking forward to in the week coming up?

I am grateful for a wonderful opportunity I was given last week. I have been asked to write for a site that hopes to become one of the top five blogging sites. Although it will add work to my busy life, I’m excited to see where it leads.

I am looking forward to the start of a new school year. I enjoy my work with middle school students and am excited for the journey we will take together.
